RESEMBLANCE BETWEEN ESCHER'S 'RELATIVITY' AND AN AMALFI'S COURTYARD The architecture of one of Amalfi's buildings is located near the town hall's square. The discovery - which Marco Scognamiglio saw and photographed - concerns one of the artist's most representative oeuvres: a lithography made in 1953 which represents a polycentric space in which human figures move on different levels. Escher visited Italy for long periods of time, in particular the Amalfi coast in 1923: in the 'Divine coast' he found spaces and geometric patterns reproduced in many artworks. Escher's 'Relativity' possibly inspired by Amalfi building - Culture | ANSAMed.it
