THE TALE OF FOX'S TAIL GRAPE Greco di Tufo was born in the mid 17th century, when Scipione di Marzo arrived in Tufo, province of Avellino. After planting Aminea Gemina in the local new soil, famed for its sulphur minerals and fossils, he became the creator of Greco di Tufo. Cantine di Marzo still makes wine from 100% Greco grapes. Some Greco di Tufo wines may not be 100% Greco Bianco as the denomination allows for 15% Coda di Volpe Bianca, a grape which ripens late and is harvested during the first ten days of October.
