That’s nearly 33 years from its harvest and ferment to release. “It’s a manifesto,” says Roberto Di Meo of his just-released 1993 white, “I want to declare to the world the potential of Irpinia, our terroir, and the aging of Fiano.” All 2,800 bottles and 500 magnums of it—couldn’t be labelled as Fiano di Avellino like his other Fianos, because of bureaucratic complications and appellation rules, but as a simple table wine, “vino bianco”.
