A WINE THAT'S 85% AGLIANICO AND 15% PIEDIROSSO IS "LIVING TOGETHER" Campania has a powerful indigenous red grape: Aglianico. Everybody wanted to plant Aglianico in the late 1990s. Now, just as those vines are old enough to get interesting, there are way too many of them. Piedirosso has been used to blend into and soften Aglianico. There are only 670 hectares of Piedirosso in Campania, compared to 6900 hectares of Aglianico. Piedirosso produces small crops and is thus expensive to farm.
