NOW ON VIEW IN BLOCKBUSTER "CARAVAGGIO 2025" EXHIBITION The Martyrdom of St. Ursula (1610) painting was made just a month before Caravaggio’s death and had been commissioned by Prince Marcantonio Doria. Its authenticity in a letter from the archive that had been written to the prince by his procurator in Naples. The work has been held in the Intesa Sanpaolo collection: usually on display at the bank’s museum in Naples. An initial restoration brought much greater clarity to the composition, suggesting that the scene takes place within the Hun king Attila’s tent.
