CAPPELLA DI SAN GENNARO, NAPLES — KEYS FOR OPENING THE SAFE The belgian artist Jan Fabre dematerializes the image of the saint, which he represents in a poetic synthesis of various objects related to the cult: the mitre, made with a riot of coral, the red cornets, and the keys used to open the safe containing the ampullae of the holy blood. The blood of San Gennaro, the patron Saint of Naples, is re-born during an annual ritual of liquefaction. The blood of Medusa is re-born by colouring the red coral drawn from the city’s gulf and worked by local artisans. Blood Re-born | Taylor & Francis Online
